A Grandview Tradition
Celebrate 25 years of free outdoor summer concerts at the Grandview Heights Public Library!
The series, which takes place Tuesdays in June & July from 7:30-8:30 pm, has become a tradition in Grandview Heights/Marble Cliff. Neighbors, families and friends fill the Library lawn with chairs, blankets, picnics, and dancing.
The Grandview Library and Grandview Heights Parks & Recreation are proud to coordinate this series that is free to the public – and becomes more popular each year. Nearly 1,000 attended six concerts the first season, in 1986; last year, more than 7,000 attended nine concerts.
Thank you to all the great bands that have played over the years. Join us on the Library lawn for these terrific groups, and celebrate 25 years of great summer fun at the Grandview Library!
2010 SCHEDULE
- June 1: Billy Zenn & The Ringers (Rock & Blues)
Steeped in vintage blues, rock & soul, this awesome band kicks off the series with its special brand of American music.
- June 8: Arnett Howard’s Band (Creole Funk)
Danceable rhythm & blues for the entire family! Hear the best Creole funk this side of New Orleans with Columbus favorite Arnett Howard. (Arnett has played every season, outside of his recent short-lived retirement!)
- June 15: The Randys (Retro Pop & Soul)
This fun, 5-piece band plays songs from the '50s & '60s with an eclectic flair, from blue-eyed soul to traditional Spanish numbers.
- June 22: Sean Carney Band (Blues)
Hear top-shelf blues from Columbus’s celebrated guitarist Sean Carney and his amazing band—2007 International Blues Challenge winners!
- June 29: The Conspiracy Band (R&B/Funk)
This high-energy group always gets the crowd moving! Hailed as "The Mayor's Band" and "Columbus's Band" (Columbus Monthly), The Conspiracy Band is a favorite for all ages.
- July 6: The British Invasion (‘60s Music)
More than just a Beatles tribute, this popular band covers music from English groups of the 1960s—The Animals, The Rolling Stones, Herman's Hermits—and performs a special Sgt. Pepper's Beatles set!
- July 13: Dean Marcellana & Clave Sonic (Latin Jazz)
Grandview’s own Dean Marcellana and his band will delight you with outstanding jazz infused with a tropical flavor!
- July 20: General Guinness Band (Irish Music & Dance)
For nearly 30 years, this traditional Irish band has been wowing audiences with rich ballads, energetic fiddle tunes, and Irish step dancing. Great fun for all ages! (This group played the first five concert seasons, 1986-1990!)
- July 27: Sons of Gladys (Elvis Tribute)
Finish the summer with a Vegas-style tribute to Elvis Presley. Performing big numbers from the King’s later years, this band features a horn section, backup singers, and an amazing Elvis impersonator!
