Demolition taking place next to Library
The building at 1639 West First Avenue (at the stoplight at Oakland Avenue, just east of the Library) is scheduled for demolition beginning Monday, December 15.
Equipment will arrive on Friday, December 12, and will be on site most likely through Wednesday, December 16.
There is no anticipated conflict with Library business or parking, and no plans for surrounding street closings.
The demolition of the building (formerly SVR Data Processing) makes way for the Spring 2009 construction of an additional Library parking lot. The redesign includes extensive, park-like landscaping (evergreen & deciduous trees and shrubs) and lighting, with the entrance off Oakland Avenue.
The Library Board of Trustees is pleased to use this Library property to meet the needs of the community.
