Lazy Daze Poster gallery opening
The Grandview Heights Public Library will host an opening event to celebrate the newly-framed Lazy Daze of Summer Festival poster collection now hanging in the Library.
The event will take place Monday, April 20, from 5:30-7:30 pm, and will honor Mike Dexter, a partner in Iannarino Dexter Creative, 1433 Grandview Avenue. Dexter, a Grandview resident, has donated his time and talent to design a poster for each of the 15 Lazy Daze Festivals held in Grandview Heights since 1994.

Lazy Daze has been presented continuously with the support of the Grandview Heights Parks and Recreation Department working in conjunction with the Library. Over the years, it received additional sponsorship from the Grandview Area Chamber, and most recently, has benefited from the leadership of the Grandview Heights/Marble Cliff Arts Council.
The first Lazy Daze of Summer Festival took place on July 31, 1994, on school property between the High School and Edison Elementary/Middle School buildings. In 1995, the event moved to the Bank Block on Grandview Avenue and continued there through 1998. From 1999 to 2001, it was held at McKinley Field on Goodale Boulevard. Since July 2002, Lazy Daze has been celebrated on the lawn and streets surrounding the Grandview Library.
The Arts Council will also be present at the gallery opening to sell previous years' poster, many of which are now locally considered collectors’ items. They will also offer a sneak peek at the 2009 Lazy Daze Festival poster, which is Dexter’s latest creation.
The public is invited to attend. For more information about the gallery event or how to become involved with Lazy Daze 2009 as a sponsor, exhibitor, volunteer, or silent auction donor, please contact Jeri Diehl Cusack, the Library’s Community Liaison, at jdcusack@ghpl.org or 614-486-2954 x 132.
