Stream movies, TV, music with hoopla

 

Stream thousands of movies, television, music, and audiobook titles with hoopla, now available through ourDigital Library!

All titles are instantly available. And hoopla is cloud-based, which allows viewing on multiple devices.

On a computer

  • Go to www.hoopladigital.com. In the upper right hand corner, click on Sign Up.
  • Select Grandview Library. Enter your Grandview Library card number and PIN. You will then be asked to enter your email address and a password.
  • After you have registered, you will always log in using the email and password; you will no longer use your library barcode and PIN.
  • You may have to download a simple plug-in, WideVine (provided by Google), the first time you stream a movie through a computer browser.

On a tablet or mobile device

  • Download the hoopla app. Apps can be found at the App Store for iOS devices, Google Play for Android devices, or Amazon Kindle Fire.
  • Follow the registration and sign-in instructions.
  • Apps can be found  at the iOS App Store, Google Play, or Amazon Kindle Fire.
  • Downloading is also available to mobile devices and tablets, which is beneficial when no network is available; when the title is due, it is automatically returned.

Borrowing limit and loan periods

  • You may check out 6 items per month.
  • All materials are available immediately.
  • Movies and TV episodes may be checked out for 2 or 3 days (depending on the studio).
  • Audiobooks check out for 21 days.
  • Music albums check out for 7 days.
  • You may re-borrow items as many times as you wish, provided you haven’t exceeded your monthly checkout limit.

Paperback Exchange

 

We have a new and improved Paperback Exchange in the Circulation!

Located in the DVD area, the exchange has been reorganized with new selections added each week. Just grab what you want to read and when finished, you may return it in our book return.

No library card is needed, and anyone may use this service!

You may donate your own picks by dropping them off at the Circulation desk. If we don’t add them to the exchange, they will go to our Friends of the Grandview Library Book & AV Sales.

Honor someone special with a Remembrance Tree ornament!

Purchase an ornament in honor or in memory of someone special, and help decorate the Grandview Library’s Remembrance Tree, located in our Atrium during the holidays.

This year’s snowflake ornaments were designed & handmade by Grandview resident Nancy Kukla!

One of America’s best libraries—again!

 

Once again, Library Journal has named the Grandview Heights Public Library one of America’s best public libraries!

GHPL ranked second in the nation in its category for the second straight year, while earning its seventh consecutive 5-star rating.

The Library Journal Index of Public Library Service identified outstanding libraries in its America’s Star Libraries 2014. Ratings are based on 2012 data from the IMLS—circulation, visits, program attendance, and Internet use, each per capita.

10/8: “Walking bus” begins at Library

 

Grandview Heights K-3 PTO kicks off National Walk to School Day from the Grandview Library!

The “walking bus” leaves Wednesday, October 8, at 7:30 am, from the Library’s rear parking lot and travels to Robert Louis Stevenson Elementary.

“Walk to School Day” events raise awareness of the need to create safer routes for walking and bicycling and emphasize the importance of issues such as increasing physical activity among children, pedestrian safety, traffic congestion and concern for the environment. The events build connections between families, schools, and the broader community.

NEW! Early Literacy iPads

August 27, 2014

Youth Services now has four new iPad stations, purchased with a donation from Stauf’s Coffee Roasters in Grandview!

The iPads are preloaded with educational apps that assist in learning early literacy skills such as the ABCs, counting, and storytelling.

The iPads are recommended for ages 2-6 and will not allow
access to the Internet.
