10/25: Pumpkin Run affects Library traffic

The 36th Annual Great Pumpkin Run 5K race will take place Saturday, October 25, at 9 am!

Streets surrounding the Library will be affected. Although First Avenue (the Library’s street) will not be closed to traffic, it will be restricted from 7-10:30 am. Motorists should expect delays along the race route, which will yield to runners.

MAY 24: Traffic limited during parade

 

This year’s Memorial Day Parade will take place on Saturday, May 24, at 10 am.

There will be marching bands, floats, and service organizations, as the city salutes our servicemen and servicewomen during this annual celebration.

Enjoy the parade, and enjoy the holiday weekend!

  • The parade begins 10 am at Cambridge Boulevard & First Avenue, and continues down First Avenue to Oxley Road.
  • Some streets, including a portion of Grandview Avenue, will be closed from 9-11:30 am. Automobile access to the Library will be limited during this time. You may approach the Library from the south, or park and cross First Avenue by foot.

From April 4-8, our computer system will experience some service disruptions as new members are added to the Central Library Consortium (CLC).

During this time:

  • Grandview Library patrons will need their Grandview Library card to check out items at the Grandview Library.
  • Account information and item holds through our catalog will be unavailable.
  • We will not be able to check in items, place holds, renew items, or pay fines. No items will be due during this time.
  • Delivery of consortium items may experience delays during this time.
  • WIFI and Internet computers at the Library will be available.

All CLC library systems (including new members) will be offline during this time.

We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to welcoming new libraries to the consortium and offering patrons access to more than 4 million items!

It’s the 2nd Annual Herb & Vegetable Plant Sale, presented from the Friends of the Grandview Library.

  • Prepayment required. Orders must be received by Tuesday, April 15. Pay by cash or check (payable to: Friends of the Grandview Library) at the Circulation desk along with your order form (PDF). Orders without payment will not be processed.
  • Pick-up day is Saturday, May 10, from 10 am-2 pm, on the Library Lawn. No extra plants will be for sale this day.

4.5 million items and growing

 

On April 9, Bexley Public Library, London Public Library, and Upper Arlington Public Library will join the Central Library Consortium (CLC), offering patrons more than 4.5 million items!

The CLC is a collaboration among 14 Central Ohio library systems, including the Grandview Library*. Benefits include:

  • Cost and resource sharing among libraries
  • Patrons can request items from any member libraries’ collections
  • Faster delivery of library materials

 The Grandview Library is a founding CLC member and the Administering Library. The CLC was founded in 1988, funded by an LSTA grant written in part by the Grandview Library, and was among the first in Ohio to institute daily delivery among the members to share materials and to do cooperative licensing of databases.

Library seeks Volunteer Coordinator

The Grandview Heights Public Library is seeking an outgoing & enthusiastic full-time Volunteer Coordinator for our Circulation Department.

This position will coordinate and maintain all aspects of the Library’s Volunteer Program as well as work at the Circulation desk. FULL JOB DESCRIPTION (PDF).

The 21st Annual Lazy Daze of Summer Festival is Saturday, July 26, from 11 am-6 pm!

Once again, the Festival will feature juried crafts, food, music, and more on the lawn and streets surrounding the Library, and is presented by theGrandview Heights/Marble Cliff Arts Council.

Below are details about street closings, Library parking lot closings & hours, entertainment schedule, and more:

  • A portion of First Avenue (between Fairview & Ashland Avenues) and Oakland Avenue will be closed to traffic.
  • The parking lot near the Library lawn, and the auxiliary parking lot at Oakland & First Avenues, will be closed for festival use.
  • The Library will be open 10 am-6 pm (instead of 5 pm) on this day.
  • Don’t miss the Friends of the Library’s Paperback & AV Sale from 11 am-5 pm inside the Library!
