10/8: “Walking bus” begins at Library

 

Grandview Heights K-3 PTO kicks off National Walk to School Day from the Grandview Library!

The “walking bus” leaves Wednesday, October 8, at 7:30 am, from the Library’s rear parking lot and travels to Robert Louis Stevenson Elementary.

“Walk to School Day” events raise awareness of the need to create safer routes for walking and bicycling and emphasize the importance of issues such as increasing physical activity among children, pedestrian safety, traffic congestion and concern for the environment. The events build connections between families, schools, and the broader community.

NEW! Early Literacy iPads

August 27, 2014

Youth Services now has four new iPad stations, purchased with a donation from Stauf’s Coffee Roasters in Grandview!

The iPads are preloaded with educational apps that assist in learning early literacy skills such as the ABCs, counting, and storytelling.

The iPads are recommended for ages 2-6 and will not allow
access to the Internet.

10/25: Pumpkin Run affects Library traffic

August 7, 2014

The 36th Annual Great Pumpkin Run 5K race will take place Saturday, October 25, at 9 am!

Streets surrounding the Library will be affected. Although First Avenue (the Library’s street) will not be closed to traffic, it will be restricted from 7-10:30 am. Motorists should expect delays along the race route, which will yield to runners.

MAY 24: Traffic limited during parade

 

This year’s Memorial Day Parade will take place on Saturday, May 24, at 10 am.

There will be marching bands, floats, and service organizations, as the city salutes our servicemen and servicewomen during this annual celebration.

Enjoy the parade, and enjoy the holiday weekend!

  • The parade begins 10 am at Cambridge Boulevard & First Avenue, and continues down First Avenue to Oxley Road.
  • Some streets, including a portion of Grandview Avenue, will be closed from 9-11:30 am. Automobile access to the Library will be limited during this time. You may approach the Library from the south, or park and cross First Avenue by foot.

April 4-8: Library card required

From April 4-8, our computer system will experience some service disruptions as new members are added to the Central Library Consortium (CLC).

During this time:

  • Grandview Library patrons will need their Grandview Library card to check out items at the Grandview Library.
  • Account information and item holds through our catalog will be unavailable.
  • We will not be able to check in items, place holds, renew items, or pay fines. No items will be due during this time.
  • Delivery of consortium items may experience delays during this time.
  • WIFI and Internet computers at the Library will be available.

All CLC library systems (including new members) will be offline during this time.

We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to welcoming new libraries to the consortium and offering patrons access to more than 4 million items!
