Be a homebound delivery volunteer

in

 

Calling new volunteers! Would you like to make a big difference with just a small amount of work?

The Library is in need of drivers to deliver materials to home bound patrons, mostly within the 43212 area code. Deliveries are Thursday mornings and take about 1.5 to 2 hours. Volunteers work one shift per month.

Handmade penguin ornaments

Honor someone special with a Remembrance Tree ornament!

Purchase an ornament in honor or in memory of someone special, and help decorate the Grandview Library’s Remembrance Tree, located in our Atrium during the holidays.
This year’s felt penguin ornaments were designed & handmade by Grandview resident Nancy Kukla!
The minimum donation is $15. Use this form (PDF) or pick one up in the Atrium.

The Grandview Heights Public Library has been recognized as one of the best public libraries in America, earning its sixth consecutive 5-star rating and ranking second in the nation in its category!

The Library Journal Index of Public Library Service identified 263 “star” libraries in its America’s Star Libraries 2013. It is based on 2011 data from the IMLS—circulation, visits, program attendance and Internet use, each per capita.

Digital scanning and faxing are now available at a special station in Reference!

  • Digital scanning is free!
    • Please limit use to 15 minutes when others are waiting.
    • Send your scanned document (for free) to:

      • Smartphone/tablet (you must have a QR code reader app downloaded to your phone)
      • Google Docs
      • USB
      • SkyDrive (Microsoft docs)
      • B&W printer ($.10 per page) or color printer ($.25 per page).
  • FAX: $1 per page (U.S. and Canada only).
  • Coin-operated station accepts $5 and $1 paper bills, and $.25, $.10, and $.05 coins.

Affordable Care Act information

Beginning October 1, 2013, open enrollment begins for ACA, a new law which requires every American to have health insurance; financial assistance is available depending upon economic status.

Certified “Navigators” from the Ohio Association of Foodbanks (an Ohio agency officially providing ACA information) will give an information session and Q&A at the Library on Monday, October 28, from 6-8 pm, in the Meeting Room.

E-readers available for loan

Preloaded e-readers are now available to borrow – and to take home!

Five Barnes & Noble Nooks and two Apple iPad Minis feature a collection of bestsellers.

Plus, each Nook is designated with books from a particular genre:

  • Nook 1 — Romance
  • Nook 2 — Mystery/Suspense
  • Nook 3 — History/Biography
  • Nook 4 — Fiction Bestsellers
  • Nook 5 — Nonfiction Bestsellers

Both Minis include books in all of these genres, as well as graphic novels.

Also, you can also browse the Internet on the iPad Minis. (You will need a wireless connection.)

Each e-reader circulates for 28 days with one renewal (if there are no holds). Late fines are $3/day.

E-readers are available at the Reference desk. All you need is a Grandview Library card in good standing and a state-issued ID.
